Cyrex Laboratories' Key Team Members

Mark McDonough serves as Interim CEO of Cyrex Labs as of May 2024. Prior to this, he served in several private and public company CEO roles to include PierianDx and CombiMatrix, a publicly held molecular diagnostics company performing DNA-based testing services for reproductive health, oncology, and developmental disorders.

As CEO of CombiMatrix, from 2013-2017, Mark led a dramatic turnaround of a struggling company with a precise focus on high margin growth coupled with disciplined cost reduction. CombiMatrix revenue grew 300% over his tenure and achieved profitability. At PierianDx, he led 40% revenue growth in back-to back years leading to significant Private Equity interest. Mark has also held executive and management positions with US LABS (acquired by LabCorp) and Ventana Medical Systems (acquired by Roche). Mark is the Founder and CEO of McDonough Leadership Advisors, a private consulting firm specializing in company, culture, and commercial growth expertise.

Dr. Koksoy is the founder of the Clinical and Research Immunology and Flow Cytometry Core Laboratory at Akdeniz University, consisting of both Clinical and Research divisions. There he developed and validated various state-of-the-art flow cytometric and immunological tests and protocols that meet national and international regulatory standards for the immunologic assessment of transplant patients, diagnosing immunodeficiencies, autoimmune diseases, hematologic malignancies, and certain infections. He also served as the Associate Director of the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics laboratory, which is a part of one of the largest transplantation centers in Europe.

Dr. Koksoy served as a Professor of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at Akdeniz University, School of Medicine. He received his MSc and PhD degrees in the fields of Microbiology and Immunology from Ohio State University, and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, from Ankara University, Turkey. He has authored/co-authored more than 50 SCI-indexed papers in scientific journals.

Sam Sunshine, M.D., is a board-certified Family Medicine and Sports Medicine physician, as well as the founder of OC Sports and Wellness. After completing his undergraduate studies at Stanford University, he earned his medical degree from the University of Southern California. He then completed both his Family Medicine residency and Sports Medicine Fellowship at Kaiser Permanente - Fontana, California.

As the medical director of his direct primary care clinic, he emphasizes preventive and lifestyle medicine and employs the principles of functional medicine. His dedication to patient care has earned him the Physician of Excellence award from the Orange County Medical Association for eight consecutive years. For the last sixteen years, he has volunteered as a charge doctor for the Ironman World Championships. In October of 2022, he completed the Ironman in Kona, Hawaii.

Dr. Aristo Vojdani obtained his Ph.D. in the field of microbiology and clinical immunology with postdoctoral studies in tumor immunology at UCLA. Dr. Vojdani's ongoing research, spanning a 40-year career, focuses on the role of environmental factors, such as toxic chemicals, infections and dietary proteins and peptides in complex diseases. An owner of 15 U.S. patents for laboratory assessments, he has published 120 peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals. Dr. Vojdani is CEO and technical director of Immunosciences Lab., Inc. in Los Angeles, CA, a member of the editorial board of four scientific journals, and a guest editor of six journals.
